Lady Indians drop a tough, one possession game to 15th Region champion, Johnson Central.

MoCO GBB fell just short in a thrilling neutral-site battle against 15th Region champion, Johnson Central, losing 69-67 in a game that showcased incredible grit and determination from the entire squad. Despite trailing by as many as 12 points in the third quarter, the team rallied with an inspiring fourth quarter comeback that brought them within two points of victory. The loss moves the Lady Indians to 1-1 on the season, but this competitive performance against a strong opponent demonstrates brighter days ahead.

The game started with Johnson Central jumping out to an early lead, building a 22-10 advantage after the first quarter behind hot three-point shooting (5 3FGM in the first quarter). However, MoCo began chipping away in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 18-9 to cut the deficit to just three points at halftime, 31-28. The momentum briefly shifted early in the third when Elaine Purvis connected on a three-point play to give MoCo their first lead at 32-31, but Johnson Central responded with a devastating 12-0 run that pushed their advantage back to double digits.

The fourth quarter belonged to MoCo, with Baylee Warner and Elaine Purvis leading a furious comeback attempt. Warner finished with a team-high 18 points on 4-13 shooting, including a strong 9-12 performance from the free-throw line that kept the team in striking distance in the final quarter. Purvis matched her intensity with 17 points on 4-10 shooting, connecting on 2-3 three-pointers and providing clutch baskets when the team needed them most. Addison Terry and Sophie Fouch both contributed 9 points, while Parker Anne Routt added 7 points on an impressive 3-4 shooting.

MoCo’s incredible fourth-quarter surge saw them outscore Johnson Central and pull within two points multiple times, including a dramatic final sequence where they cut a six-point deficit to just two with seconds remaining. While the final didn’t end in the Tribe’s favor, the team showed tremendous character and a never-give-up attitude that will serve them well throughout the season. The balanced scoring attack and clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter are excellent signs for future contests.

Tribe takes down Bath County to start the 25-26 campaign.

MoCo GBB delivered a commanding 73-53 victory over Bath County in an impressive away game performance. The Lady Indians moved to 1-0 on the season. The team showcased excellent balanced scoring and strong shooting throughout all four quarters to secure a decisive 20-point win on the road.

The game began with MoCo establishing an immediate lead, racing out to a spectacular 10-0 lead behind early three-pointers from Addison Terry and contributions from multiple players. Terry and Baylee Warner led the charge in the first quarter, with Warner finishing the period as the top scorer with 10 points, helping MoCo take a comfortable 27-12 advantage. The second quarter belonged to Terry, who erupted for 11 points in the period, including multiple three-pointers that extended the lead to 40-29 at the half.

MoCo’s offensive firepower truly shined in the third quarter, outscoring Bath County 23-11 to take complete control of the game. Elaine Purvis stepped up with 9 points in the period, including a three-pointer and several field goals that helped stretch the lead to 63-40. Terry finished with a game-high 26 points on an efficient 7-13 three-point shooting, while Warner contributed 15 points on an outstanding 75% from the field. Purvis added 13 with solid all-around play.

The fourth quarter saw MoCo maintain their substantial lead while giving valuable playing time to their entire roster, including role players that made meaningful contributions. Raegan Mays chipped in 9 points with steady play throughout the game, and the team’s depth was on full display as multiple players scored in the final period. The victory highlighted the Tribe’s balanced attack, excellent shooting, and strong team chemistry as they begin their season in the win column.

Lady Indians wrap up scrimmage play with a victory over LCA

MoCO GBB finished up their scrimmage play in spectacular fashion with a a dominant 51-29 victory over Lexington Christian Academy. The team showcased impressive depth and balanced scoring throughout the contest, never trailing as they built and maintained a commanding lead from the opening tip.

The game began with an explosive start as MoCo jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, with four different players finding the scoreboard early. Raegan Mays opened the scoring with a designed field goal off of the tip, followed by contributions from Sophie Fouch, Elaine Purvis, and Baylee Warner. Addison Terry then took over, scoring 7 points in the quarter including a three-pointer to help establish a 15-5 advantage after one period. Terry’s hot shooting continued as she finished with a game-high 17 points on an efficient 7-12 shooting from the field.

The second quarter belonged to the well-rounded attack, as multiple players contributed to extend the lead to 25-13 at halftime. Baylee Warner emerged as a key contributor, showcasing perfect shooting throughout the game by going 3-3 from the field, 1-1 from three-point range, and a flawless 4-4 from the charity stripe to finish with 11 points. The third quarter saw LCA mount a brief 6-point scoring run, but MoCo responded immediately with strong play from Terry and solid contributions from Raegan Mays, who added 7 points on 3-5 shooting.

The final period demonstrated the team’s depth as multiple players saw action and contributed to the victory. PA Routt provided a spark with two three-pointers, finishing with 6 points while shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Despite LCA’s efforts to cut into the deficit, the Lady Indians maintained control throughout, with the role players getting some valuable experience in the closing minutes. The 22-point victory margin reflected the team’s balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.

The team will enjoy Thanksgiving this week and one more week of prep before heading to Owingsville on December 3rd to take on the Bath County Lady Cats to open up the 2025-2026 season.
